Are you Evolved?

People ask me why I called the company Evolved People and I giggle a little and explain that my last company was taken over by some Iowans. No offence to the whole state of Iowa or to the Mid – West generally, but the final straw came when one guy asked me if I was a one of those liberals that “believed” in global warming because I mentioned that 70 degrees on a January day in NY wasn’t normal.
Scary. So that’s why I launched this media company so like minded, forward thinking people have a place online to come and exchange views and learn more.
We started with theglasshammer.com an online community designed to help women in finance and other professional services take their career to the next level.
The Glass Hammer is an interactive blog delivering news and commentary on the issues that matter. It is applicable for women at the top of their profession to those starting out in the trenches. Its goal is to create a collaborative community by providing expert advice, insightful commentary as well as compiling events calendars where women on both sides of the Atlantic can find out where the best networking, and social evenings are taking place, or to sign up for a course to hone or develop new skills.
I am passionate about seeing people succeed and Mentors are in high demand, so I created a way for more people to benefit from invaluable insight at the same time, thanks to the Internet.
I get to go to great events and meet great people whilst networking for the glasshammer.com. I meet evolved people all the time, such as those I met last week at the Women’s Network for a Sustainable Future www.wnsf.org .It’s great to see that business leaders (in this case women). Companies are taking the environment seriously and it’s very cool to see people looking at Energy saving equipment and proper recycling.
You know what one of the biggest problems is? No one explains to the cleaning crew at the end of the day what the plans are for the staff’s garbage. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, so can someone tell the building manager that you wont pay the rent until you know that all the paper in the recycle bin is actually going to the right place.
I say make everyone wash their own mug after a cup of coffee, the cleaners have better things to do these days.
What are your views?
